Delocalization of topological edge states

چکیده
The non-Hermitian skin effect (NHSE) in lattice systems depicts the exponential localization of eigenstates at system's boundaries. It has led to a number counter-intuitive phenomena and challenged our understanding bulk-boundary correspondence topological systems. This work aims investigate how NHSE in-gap edge states compete with each other, several representative static periodically driven 1D models, whose properties are protected by different symmetries. emerging insight is that critical system parameters, even topologically can be perfectly delocalized. In particular, it discovered this intriguing delocalization occurs if real spectrum falls on same complex spectral loop obtained under periodic boundary condition. We have also performed sample numerical simulation show such delocalized safely reconstructed from time-evolving states. Possible applications briefly discussed.

Delocalization of boundary states in disordered topological insulators
We use the method of bulk-boundary correspondence of topological invariants to show that disordered topological insulators have at least one delocalized state at their boundary at zero energy. Those insulators which do not have chiral (sublattice) symmetry have in addition the whole band of delocalized states at their boundary, with the zero energy state lying in the middle of the band. This re...

The topological indices, defined as the sum of contributions of all pairs of vertices (among which are the Wiener, Harary, hyper–Wiener indices, degree distance, and many others), are expressed in terms of contributions of edges and pairs of edges.

Topological features—global properties not discernible locally—emerge in systems ranging from liquid crystals to magnets to fractional quantum Hall systems. A deeper understanding of the role of topology in physics has led to a new class of matter—topologically ordered systems. The best known examples are quantum Hall effects, where insensitivity to local properties manifests itself as conducta...

Detecting topological order in cold-atom experiments is an ongoing challenge, the resolution of which offers novel perspectives on topological matter. In material systems, unambiguous signatures of topological order exist for topological insulators and quantum Hall devices. In quantum Hall systems, the quantized conductivity and the associated robust propagating edge modes--guaranteed by the ex...
